  1. What was the reason?

    • I hope that this is a rhetorical question. If not, then please begin a study of what our Founders had to say about government. This from Alexander Hamilton is probably the most concise answer to the question:
“If the representatives of the people betray their constituents, there is then no recourse left but in the exertion of that original right of self-defense which is paramount to all positive forms of government, and which against the usurpations of the national rulers may be exerted with infinitely better prospect of success than against those of the rulers of an individual State. In a single State, if the persons entrusted with supreme power become usurpers, the different parcels, subdivisions, or districts of which it consists, having no distinct government in each, can take no regular measures for defense. The citizens must rush tumultuously to arms, without concert, without system, without resource; except in their courage and despair.”
      — Alexander Hamilton, Federalist No. 28

Either way, this confirms the idea I had recently for some blog posts. The majority of US citizens today are sheeple that have been mis-educated in the public school gulag. Thanks for the question.

      • Well, I have some military training. Given the disparity in relative training and firepower, do you really think that this reasoning holds water anymore? At the time the quote was written there was not a significant difference between the rifle of a military soldier and the rifle of a civilian. This is no longer the case.

Do you really think you can defend yourself against the actual weaponry of the US Military? If so, you’re either terribly uneducated, or grossly overestimating your own capabilities. You know movies like Red Dawn were fiction, correct?

I doubted that you would allow this to be seen, so I posted it here as well…

      • Well, thank you for being so quick to judge me. You’ve shown what you are. Do I understand the historical context? Yes, I do. You appear to be saying that due to the change in technology, the ideas of self defense and resistance to tyranny are outdated. So the 4th Amendment applies to cell phones, but the 2nd amendment stopped with muskets? So you have some military training? So do lots of other people. I am a veteran, and have received anti-terrorist training from the feds. Do I know the difference between the rifle of a military soldier and that of a civilian? Stop being an ass. Sorry, I guess that goes with the territory for a liberal. Betcha I’ve got more trigger time on military weapons than you do, but I’m not going to get in a pissing match with a Marxist. Take your snark and go elsewhere. As it says at the top of my blog, “Don’t like my opinions? Go away, read another blog.”
